Are Antiques A Worthwhile Investment These Days?
Hi all being a big antiques fan (get a lot of my stuff from http://aurorahistoryboutique.com/ – if your into you should check it) I was wondering what all of you thought on the notion that antiques in this day and age are a lot more valuable then ever before. With the recession on going and the value of paper money sinking a lot of people are turning to either antiques or commodities. I wonder what others think on the idea of stocking up or selling at this time?

It’s the right time to buy quality from those that have to monetize their previous investments. Now it’s the time to buy, not to sell. But if you sell, you realize that if the same item was new, you would get nothing from it, most likely. So the case of antiques as a better place to put money into is proven.
It’s also the time to buy pieces that are not practical, collectors’ items for instance, and to sell useful pieces as these sell better in these times. But that’s only if you have to monetize, otherwise just buy or hold on to them if you can.

Antique Dealing by Matthew Ohms is a full-featured guide on how to buy and sell antiques for profit. It covers antique valuation & pricing, auction tips, profit potential and the legal aspects of buying and selling antiques.
While the law varies from place to place, to be considered an antique a car or other piece of machinery needs to be 25 years old, toys need to be 10 years old, and other items at least 50-100 years old.
The reason for this is that items like cars and machinery go through a lot more wear and tear than a chair or a desk. So for it to last 25 years is truly significant.

I agree with the 1st answer. A couple days around Grand Canyon, but Zion is actually my favorite place that I went when I was hiking around the country. Spend more time in Zion for sure!
if you want to be an investment banker, you should major in finance or something very similar to it. see if your uni offers courses related to investing that you could take
if you want to be an investment banker why would you try to major in engineering? engineers major in engineering. if you want to be an engineering major because you like engineering, why don't you just become an engineer? they still make a lot of money, just like investors
Chances are that you have done all the SEO search engine marketing articles you know how and have been very disappointed because you saw no results from all the hard work and investment you put in. You are not alone. …

Educate yourselves first. "Investing For Dummies" is a great starter book. Suze Orman's personal finance books are also full of good information. Financial planning involves more than just "saving" or "investing" – estate plans, insurance, etc., are all part of the picture.

The Feb. 27 magnitude 8.8 earthquake in Chile may have shortened the length of each Earth day. NASA scientists came up with a preliminary calculation that the quake should have shortened the length of an Earth day by about 1.26 microseconds (a microsecond is one millionth of a second).

Upgrading the memory.
Expanding the amount of memory will almost improve performance, because it allows more applications to run without the CPU having to swap memory to external storage (i.e., a hard drive).
yeah, it can be done but ur gonna be sittin there waiting for a 10 percent increase on something just to make ten bucks. and waiting for that is riskier than im willing to do while day trading. usually. morelikely to lose money. Start with 1000 at least
It depends on the state.
In California, a THIRTY DAY NOTICE is required unless the tenant is in arrears, or is doing something illegal out of the premisis like selling drugs or turning tricks or something else which effectively turns the premises into a public nuisance. If so, then the landlord may give only a three-day notice.
If the tenant has lived in the premises for a long time (I'd have to go look it up, but I think it's two years or longer… but don't take my word on that), then the landlord must give a SIXTY DAY NOTICE… again, this is in California.
And, by the way, in California all such notices must contain certain language or they don't even count. And they must be served in a certain way, too.
It doesn't matter if a new owner buys the building. Said new owner MUST abide by the previous owner's agreements; and so must treat all tenants as if the new owner had been the landlord all along.
But, as I wrote at the beginning, all of this varies from state to state.
And remember, also, that even once the notice period has expired, the landlord, usually, at least in MOST states, can't just enter the premises and throw you out. Once the notice period (whether it's three days, or thirty days, or sixty days) has expired, if the tenant is still there, then all the landlord can do is begin an eviction proceeding by filing same in a court of law of relevant jurisdiction. Then he has to wait for the tenant to be served, then the tenant has a certain number of days to respond, then there's the court date, and then, even if the tenant loses, there's another week or two before the sheriff is finally allowed to actuallyl physically remove the tenant…
…or so it is in California.
Many states are not quite as good about all this, though, as is California. So if you're NOT in California, then do not assume that everything I've written is the way it is in your state.
You should TALK TO A LAWYER, and not take the advice of anyone in a place like this. Hunt-down-like-a-dog and talk to a member in good standing of your state's BAR; and then do ONLY what s/he tells you, and NOT what anyone around here says.
Hope that helps.

Skytrax awards airlines between one to five stars according to how they rank their service and other issues. Kingfisher is one of only a handful of five star airlines. British Airways and Virgin for example are only four stars and Air India has only three!
Skytrax also allows passengers to comment on their experiences with an airline and you might want to take a look at these. Do bear in mind thoiugh that many people only comment when they have something negative to say so you may not get a balanced view.

My family has always been interested in antiques, so this website caught my eye. It is a green company and the site talks about its work with other conservators and educating clients in the care of their furniture. Susan

I would say do it.
I actually did the same but only needed about $300.00 worth of work needed. I put $500.00 in my flex account and also bought me a pair of new reading glasses.
I'd rather use my flex account rather than pulling it staight out of my checking account.
Also, I believe you get a tax break if you had medical expenses that exceed 7% of your total annual income. Ask about it when you get your taxes done so you are prepared for next year.
Good luck!
US Savings Bonds make a great gift. You purchase them for half of their face value and have no risk. When the baby grows up, she/he will have a bond worth double what you paid for it!
The best way to sell antiques is in person, using the services of a professional auctioneer.
I was thinking about Scottrade but I’m looking for something less risky since I don’t have a lot to begin with so I signed up with Sharebuilder. I know it’s slower growth but was it a good idea do you think?
Neither. "By this shall men know that ye are my disciples: if ye have love one to another."
When I was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, if somebody didn't want to talk to us, I respected his wishes. I don't recall ever trying to convince anybody, much less arguing with people, but I accidentally convinced two people. I will always regret that — conversion from the Holy Ghost is the best outcome. On the other hand, I did also help some people in their search for truth.
When the Jehovah's Witnesses come to my door, I speak kindly and politely to them, but I refuse to be drawn into argument or debate. I usually have to remind them several times. I'll let them in, give them cold water if it's hot outside, etc. I just believe that I have what I need, and contention is not from God.
