Is The Canon Eos 450d Actually A Worthwhile Investment Camera Or Is It An Overpublicised Flash In The Pan?
If you are used to using other adjustable cameras (like the 35mm Rebels), then it is a logical step into the digital world.
The main problem with digital cameras is that the technology increases at a rate that you will be buying a new camera body every three or four years, while 35mm SLR’s last for decades.
Whether any camera, digital or film is a worthwhile investment has to do with your skills as a photographer … not the camera

Food for thought:
“People know cars don’t drive themselves, typewriters don’t write novels by themselves and that Rembrandt’s brushes didn’t paint by themselves. So why do some otherwise intelligent people think cameras drive around and make pictures all by themselves?” Andreas Feininger 1905 – 1999

investment cameras? there is no such thing.
Things like Nikon F3 4 5’s and Canon EOS 1’s always held up well, but the 35mm market is dead unless you have a rare leica.
A previous poster hit the nail on the head: digital cameras don’t hold value because technology proceeds so quickly.
If you have anything before an EOS 350D or EOS 30D then upgrade. If you don’t then wait til the camera you have stops working.
8MP jump to 12MP sounds big, it isn’t unless you are printing massive pics, which if you were you would already have an EOS5D or EOSs 1D Mk2 or MK3
If you are looking at a 450D then you are not a pro, a pro would see a camera as an earner rather than an investment.
The best AF system on the go for sports guys is the Canon EOS 1d Mk3 (now that its bugs have been sorted, Ai Servo focus at 10fps plus live view) only 10MP, I say only, a2 prints and enough res to keep to sports pages happy.
The best digital SLR is the Canon 1DsMk3 20MP res and fast AF if not as fast processing as the 1D Mk3 (different cameras, different jobs)
Wait a few months at least, the reviews will be out, the price will drop, make your choice then.
Hi there. I’m not quite sure what you mean by an ‘investment camera’, but I think you’re asking if the camera is worth buying or if it’s a piece of junk.
I own the Canon Digital Rebel, the original one released in 2003, and I still use it regularly. I wanted an SLR camera, and it was the only choice in that price range then. It was about $1,000 new, including the 18-55mm lens…certainly not cheap, but considering I still use it today and get great results, that’s only $200 a year.
From what I’ve seen, the 450D is just the most recent in the evolution of the Digital Rebel line, and builds on that foundation. I personally really like the Canon user interface, and it looks like they kept all the good stuff, worked out kinks from the not-so-good stuff, and added some new stuff.
So based on my experience with this line of Canon cameras, I’d say that it’s a solid SLR camera worth the price, which you will get at least five years of use from. I’d buy it if I needed!
very worthwhile, and good camera.

Racks are a part of storage solutions in almost ever home. They make it possible to store as many items as possible in an organized manner. Storage racks have evolved over the years. The newest, a design of hybrid rack system, is designed to be easy to use. These new systems are simply incredible for their ability at fitting so much stuff into so little space, which is, really, the mark of any useful, worthwhile storage system, be they shelves, racks or a foot locker.
I am addicted, but I would say about 82% of teens are.

It wasn’t the Mossad Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh: I was ‘offed’ by the other Mahmoud Too bad about disspointing all those who immediately thought the assassination of Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh was the work of the Israeli Mossad. It’s very likely that Mahmoud al Mabhouh ran afoul with the Iranian regime, with Israeli citizens’ indentities having been stolen and used by the team that took Mabhouh out, that scenario looks the more plausible of the two.” This report from PowerLine blog provides the following details: “An additional complication came to light this week. The 450D doesn't have an intervalometer, so the only way you can do that is by using the Remote Shooting feature with your camera connected to your computer.
To do that, you need to load the software that came with your camera. One disk you should have is the 'EOS Digital Solution Disk' and the other disk is the Software Instruction Manual. Or, there might be other third party software available, that allows you to do that.
You can also download any updates and manuals from the link below…http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=16307

Steve Jobs has weighed in on Apple’s new rule that iPhone and iPad applications must be “originally written” in C/C++/Objective-C — a mandate that’s being seen as another sleight against Adobe Flash. The response comes after an Adobe employee wrote a post telling Apple to “go screw yourself“. Developer Greg Slepak claims to have emailed the Apple CEO about the situation, and posted the following thread. Given that Steve does randomly reply to emails (with characteristically curt responses), we’re going to assume this is legit: GREG: Hi Steve, Lots of people are pissed off at Apple’s mandate that applications be “originally written” in C/C++/Objective-C. If you go, for example, to the Hacker News homepage right now: You’ll see that most of the front page stories about this new restriction, with #1 being: “Steve Jobs Has Just Gone Mad” with (currently) 243 upvotes. The top 5 stories are all negative reactions to the TOS, and there are several others below…
