Why Would/do You Agree That This Would Be A Worthwhile Investment?
I need to write a letter of proposal to my principal, in order to persuay her into letting the green team, 1/3 of the kids in my school are on green team, buy a greenhouse. I have already planned the budget, and to how we are going to use it, but now I just have to write a letter of proposal to her. I have began to write it, and this will sound stupid, but why would building a greenhouse be a worthwhile investment? And just to make it clear, our school is pretty financially equipped, but feel free to discuss anything that comes to mind!

You will need to give a detailed account of the accurate costings involved in the building materials and labour costs of that greenhouse, over how many months it takes to build it. The principal will be trying to weigh up the short term expenses against any long term gains you say it will bring in.
The principal will also need to get approval from the district office if she likes the team’s idea. So, your proposal needs to be well presented, sensible, with lots of research to back up your claims. From your other similar question, it will probably take 12 to 18 pages, including a title page and table of contents. The principal will want something presentable to send to the district office.
Obviously, buying packets of seed & getting cuttings would be cheaper than buying retail for the school canteen. But while you’re all waiting for the veges to grow how are you proposing the school pay for the greenhouse in that time of waiting? You say the school is financially able but what if the principal has other ideas for that money? (I can’t advise on that since you wouldn’t know exactly how much there is in spare money that the school could use towards the greenhouse).
In the distant future, maybe the school can sell excess produce for cheap but the principal & school district will be more interested in the expensiveness of building that greenhouse and paying it off in the next 2 to 3 years.
Usually, schools are not looking to make a profit but to break even. So, put in good reasons based on the environment and health (e.g. no pesticides used, getting kids to reduce weight by being interested in eating fresh salads & desserts from the veges & fruit they learn to grow themselves, plus seasonal fruit & veges do have more nutrition than all-year ones refrigerated for months & imported from long distances). You need to do more research on schools in other parts of your country and around the world that have done something similar. Many don’t have a greenhouse. Start online first and see if you can ask them questions by email.
This is an idea you could consider: It would probably cost less to have a vegetable patch instead, with fencing and shade-cloth netting secured on poles…

As for what is the sine of 15 degrees? Well consider the double angle formula cos(2x)=1-2*sin^2(x)
then sin^2(x)=(1-cos(2x))/2
so the sin(15)=sqrt((1-cos(30)/2)
sin(15)=sqrt(2/4-sqrt(3)/4)
